A letter from the founder
Why I built ClutchSnap
Hiro & Max
As a father of a 10-year-old and an 8-year-old, I’ve realized just how fast our kids grow up. It’s as if we blink and, all of a sudden, they’ve gone from a newborn baby I could hold in one hand to a precious child discovering their first real passion.
We signed Max up for a free soccer clinic when he was six years old, and the rest was history. It was love at first kick.
Like any proud dad, I quickly bought a “professional” camera and started taking a lot of pictures of my son over the years. I wanted to capture those memories and keep them. And I could see him growing up so fast. Blink, and he’s 7, then 8, then 9, and now he’s 10. Where has the time gone?
I have so many photos and videos, on my phone and on hard drives, and yet I can’t easily find the moments that actually matter. His first goal. The time he fell, cried, and stood back up. His first win. The joy, the frustration, the excitement. I can still picture it all in my head, but I can’t find the photo or the video when I want it.
That’s why ClutchSnap exists
I needed something that helps me quickly capture and organize the precious moments of my son’s life, moments I’ll never get to experience again, and then reminisce and relive them. These moments only become more important as he gets older, as he becomes a teenager, as he starts to be independent and maybe doesn’t want quite as many photos and videos from Dad anymore.
So I built ClutchSnap for parents like you, parents who want to save the precious moments of their child’s sports memories. Here’s what I believe in, and what you’ll feel in every part of the product.
Your child’s data belongs to you
I grew up as social media was being born, and I’ve watched how it can harm kids: endless scrolling, and “free” apps that turn our children into the product they sell to advertisers. I don’t want that for our kids. Your child’s moments should be protected and kept safe, and you decide how they’re used and who sees them. No ads. No selling your data. No feeding your child’s photos and videos into someone else’s algorithm to be profiled, trained on, or sold. The only automatic thing that looks at your child’s photos and videos is a check for illegal or abusive content, and it runs before anyone else can see them.
Kindness by design
There is enough negativity in the world. ClutchSnap is a place for encouragement. That’s why there are no comment sections. Nothing appears on your child’s profile without you. Family and friends can send a heart, and coaches and other parents can write endorsements, words of encouragement about your child. You approve each one before it shows.
Honest value, plainly priced
ClutchSnap gives your family one calm, private home for your child’s sports memories: no ads, no endless scroll, no one selling your data. Keeping it that way is exactly why ClutchSnap can’t run on ads: when you’re not the product, someone has to cover the servers and storage, and the sharing features are paid for by families, and I’d far rather that be you than an advertiser. It costs $8.99 a month, and not a cent more than it needs to. I built ClutchSnap by hand and tend to it every day, and I think that’s a genuinely fair trade: real value for your family, and enough to keep ClutchSnap growing.
What “ClutchSnap” means
Clutch is the perfect moment. Snap is capturing and freezing that moment in time. ClutchSnap is where you capture those moments, find them again years later, and relive them.
“Whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things.”
With much gratitude,
Thank you for trusting me with your family’s memories. I built this for parents like you and for my own kids, too.
