Where to stand: the side your batter faces
A batter faces one side of the field. Stand on that side and you get their face, not the back of a helmet.
- Step 1
First-base side for righties, third for lefties
A right-handed batter faces the first-base side and a left-hander faces third. Watch which side of the plate your kid stands on, and stand on the side they face.
- Step 2
Put the lens against the fence
Most fields put chain-link between you and the game, and it keeps you safe from foul balls. Press the phone flat against the fence with the lens in a gap, and the wire disappears. Keep your face back from the wire, because a foul ball hits the fence hard.
- Step 3
Pitchers and fielders
Shoot a pitcher from the side of their throwing arm, so you see the face at release. For a fielder, pick a spot behind the fence nearest their position and wait. The ball comes to them.
Lens flat on the fence, on the side your batter faces.
