Action: the top of the toss

The stunt, the basket toss, the tumbling pass, the jump. Every one has a peak, and the peak is the frame.

How to shoot it
  1. Step 1

    Learn the counts

A routine is the same at every competition. Watch one run-through and note where the toss goes up. Next time, frame that spot before it happens.

  2. Step 2

Burst from the dip to the catch

A basket toss lasts two seconds. Start bursting as the bases dip and hold until the catch. The flyer at the top is in there.

  3. Step 3

    Bases are the story too

If your kid is a base or a back spot, the frame is their face under the stunt, holding it up. Frame the whole group, not only the top.

Pro tip

Watch once, then frame where the toss peaks.
