How to shoot it
  1. Step 1

    Before the show, not after

Hair and makeup are perfect before the show and gone after it. Shoot the portrait at home or in the lobby, before they go in. A plain wall and window light are all you need.

  2. Step 2

Leave room for the costume or the instrument

A skirt, a tutu, a cello all need space. Step back until all of it fits, then take one closer for the face. Choose Full Quality when you add it.

  3. Step 3

Take three: the pose, the stage face, the real grin

One posed the way their class poses, one serious, one laughing. The laughing one is the one you’ll frame.

Pro tip

Shoot the portrait before the show, while the hair is still perfect.
