Set the phone for a stage

Silent, no flash, burst on, exposure locked. Two minutes before you sit down, and the show is easier.

How to shoot it
  1. Step 1

    Silent mode, flash off

Put the phone on silent so the shutter doesn’t click, and turn the flash off. Flash won’t reach the stage, and it distracts the performers and everyone around you.

  2. Step 2

Turn on burst, and turn Live Photos off

A leap or a final pose lasts a second. Hold the shutter for a run of frames and keep the sharpest. Live Photos slow the camera down.

  3. Step 3

Lock the exposure on the stage

Stage lights make the phone wash out faces. Tap a performer, hold until it locks, then slide the brightness down a little.

  4. Step 4

Choose Full Quality when you add them

For the photos you might print or put on a team poster, pick Full Quality when you add them. A compressed photo looks fine on a phone and soft on paper.

Pro tip

Do it before you take your seat. The lights go down fast.

They only grow up once.
