SIDELINE SCHOOL
Action: the face behind the face mask
The run, the catch, the tackle, the stance before the snap. A helmet hides a lot, so look for the moments it can’t.
How to shoot it
- Step 1
Shoot them coming at you
From the side, the face mask hides the face. Shoot from the front, as they run at you, and the eyes show through the bars.
- Step 2
Linemen win at the snap
If your kid plays on the line, the photo is the stance and the first push. Stand level with the line of scrimmage, frame them before the snap, and burst as the ball moves.
- Step 3
The catch is hands and ball
For a receiver, follow the player, not the throw. The frame is the hands closing on the ball, and the burst finds it if you start early.
Pro tip
Shoot them coming toward you. That’s where the face is.
