SIDELINE SCHOOL
Shoot from their eye line
From the back of a hall you look down on a stage. Sit where the camera is level with them, or a little below.
How to shoot it
- Step 1
Sit level with the stage
From high seats you shoot the tops of heads and the floor. A row near the front, level with the stage, puts the camera at their height and the backdrop behind them.
- Step 2
Fill the frame with your kid
Use the 2x or 3x button, not a pinch, and keep their whole body in. A tiny figure on a big stage belongs on the program cover. Your photo is of them.
- Step 3
Hold still through the burst
Elbows on your knees, phone in both hands, and burst through the moment. The one to keep is usually a few frames in.
Pro tip
Level with the stage, 2x or 3x, both hands.
