Where to sit: where you can see their hands

Ask the rules first. Then sit where you can see their face and their instrument at once.

How to shoot it
  1. Step 1

    Ask about photos first

Many schools and teachers ask for no photos during a piece. Shoot during the applause, at the dress rehearsal, and before and after.

  2. Step 2

Find the side with the face and the hands

Every instrument has a side where you can see both the face and the hands. Find it at the rehearsal, and sit on that side for the concert.

    .
  3. Step 3

    Stage light fools the phone

The stage is bright and the hall is dark, so the phone washes them out. Tap your player, hold until it locks, then slide the brightness down a little.
