Action: the ball on the bat
The swing, the slide, the throw, the diving catch. Baseball is slow until it isn’t, so be ready before the pitch.
How to shoot it
- Step 1
Start the burst when the pitcher starts
Contact lasts a moment, and nobody reacts fast enough to catch it. Frame your batter, start the burst as the pitcher winds up, and hold it through the swing.
- Step 2
Know where the play is going
With a runner on first, the play is at second. Frame the bag before the pitch and the slide comes into your photo. The same works at home plate with a runner on third.
- Step 3
The catch is in the glove
A catch is the glove and the face together. Follow your player, not the ball in the air, and keep bursting until the ball is in the glove.
Pro tip
Start the burst with the wind-up, not the swing.
