Action: the breath and the dive

The dive off the blocks, the breath, the turn, the touch at the wall.

Swimming · 3 min
How to shoot it
  1. Step 1

    Shoot the breath

A swimmer’s face shows for a moment on each breath. Frame their lane and burst as the head comes up.

  2. Step 2

    The dive is a burst

Frame them on the block and start the burst at the signal. The one to keep is them stretched flat over the water. Never use flash at the start: it can be mistaken for the start signal.

  3. Step 3

    The touch at the wall

At the finish, frame the wall in their lane and burst as they come in. The hand on the wall and the head turning to the board is the photo.

Pro tip

Shoot from the side they breathe to. That’s where the face is.
