The start, the stride, the hurdle, the jump, the throw, the handoff.
How to shoot it
- Step 1
Shoot them coming toward you
Faces show when runners come at you. On the bend and down the final straight they run toward the camera. Burst as they arrive.
- Step 2
Frame the hurdle, not the runner
A hurdle or a take-off board stays still. Frame it, and burst as they arrive. The one to keep is them over the bar, legs fully out.
- Step 3
The handoff
A relay is won or lost in the exchange zone. Frame the zone and burst as the incoming runner reaches out with the baton.
Pro tip
Frame the hurdle, not the runner. They’ll arrive.
