Where to stand: by their event

Every event has its spot. Find theirs on the schedule and get there before they do.

How to shoot it
  1. Step 1

Pick the spot for the event

Sprints: the stands beside the finish, at an angle. Hurdles: level with a hurdle. Long jump: the side of the pit, a little in front. High jump: level with the bar. Relays: the exchange zone. Always from the stands or behind the rail, never on the track: runners can’t stop for you.

  2. Step 2

Stay out of the throwing area

Shot, discus and javelin land with real force. Shoot throwers from wherever officials let spectators stand, never from inside the landing area.

  3. Step 3

    Keep the sun behind you

Meets run all day in the open. Move so the sun lights their face, not the back of their head.
