Where to stand: the end they attack, low to the water
Shoot from the end your kid attacks, as close to the water as the pool allows.
How to shoot it
- Step 1
The end they attack
Water polo happens around the goals. From the end they attack you see faces as they rise to shoot. Teams switch ends at half-time, so move with them.
- Step 2
Low is better at a pool
From high in the stands you shoot the tops of caps. If parents may stand on the deck, kneel a step back from the edge, where it’s dry: pool decks are slippery. If not, take the front row.
- Step 3
Watch the glare
Sun or ceiling lights on the water can wash out a photo. Move along the side until the glare is out of your frame, then tap a player to lock the exposure.
