SIDELINE SCHOOL
Together: teammates, coaches, family
The handshake line, the coach’s word, siblings watching. The people around them are part of the story.
How to shoot it
- Step 1
Other children aren’t extras
A huddle or a handshake line has other kids in it. That’s fine in your private gallery. Before you share one with the team, ask yourself whether their parent would be glad to see it.
- Step 2
Shoot the coach from behind
The kind version of a coach talk is the crouch, the hand on the shoulder, the listen. Stand behind the coach and you get your kid’s face. Save the hard conversations for the family.
- Step 3
Hand someone else the phone
Siblings on the sideline, a grandparent’s first game, you. Give the phone to someone at half-time and get in the frame. You belong in a few of these.
